About the firm
The partnership Yanakas Votsis Associates (YVA) is an amalgamation of
two firms of solicitors in North London and consists of six partners, two consultants,
three associate solicitors and several support staff.
We are big enough to cope but small enough to care and believe in offering
clients the best of old and new, modern expertise with traditional personal
service.
We believe that lawyers exist to serve their clients, not vice versa.
We also believe that every path we undertake on your behalf is unique.
Although we expect to be judged on results, we also expect to be judged
on the added value we provide, the quality of our service and our cost
effectiveness. We aim to build long term relationships with clients. The
primary aim of YVA Solicitors is to provide a sound, practical legal service
in an efficient and professional manner. We guarantee a personal service
unique to the requirements of each individual client and our growth in
recent years is testimony to the success of our approach.
We have solicitors with considerable experience in each area
of law thereby ensuring that we can provide our clients with up-to-date, practical
advice and assistance. In addition, our administrative, secretarial staff
ensure the efficient running of the office and are able to deal with any

Michael Votsis
Michael is a senior partner within our firm and is the head of our
property department. Michael qualified as a solicitor in 1975 and
has considerable experience in all aspects of property law, and
is especially experienced in all commercial property matters, commercial
leases, company law, mergers and takeovers.

Christopher Yiannakas
Chris is a senior partner within our firm and is the head of our
matrimonial / family department. Having qualified as a solicitor
in 1987, he has gained considerable experience in all aspects of
family / matrimonial matters and proceedings, to include divorce
proceedings, financial aspects of the breakdown of relationships,
all aspects of Children Act proceedings and domestic violence. He
is a member of the Law Society Family Law Panel and Resolution -
First for Family Law.
He is also an Accredited Specialist which means he is recognised
by Resolution and The Law Society as having substantial experience
in family law and has passed a test of knowledge and experience
in family law. He is recognised as having a particular expertise
in children work and domestic violence.

Christopher Elias
Having qualified in 1982, Chris joined our firm in 1984 and is now
a partner. He is the head of our litigation department having considerable
experience in all aspects of County Court and High Court litigation.
Chris' particular specialism is in personal injury and commercial
litigation cases. He is also responsible for our will/probate department
and our housing department.

Stavrou Achillea
Having qualified in 1994 after undertaking his training contract
with our firm, Stavrou is now a partner and heads our immigration
department. He has considerable experience in all areas of immigration
and nationality law to include judicial reviews. Stavros also has
considerable experience in licensing and housing law.

Lambros Lambrou
Lambros is a partner with our firm having joined us in 1997. He
was previously an award winning journalist before becoming a lawyer.
Lambros specialises in commercial and residential conveyancing as
well as all aspects of employment law. As part of his employment
law practice Lambros advises and represents employers and employees
in respect of all employment related matters. Issues dealt with
range from unfair deduction of wages and terms of contract right
through to breach of contract, unfair dismissal, redundancy, sex,
race and disability discrimination.

Paul Yiannakas
Paul is a Consultant solicitor in our property department. He was
the senior partner of Paul Yanakas & Co. until its merger with
our firm. Paul is a well respected property lawyer and his main
expertise is in connection with residential and commercial conveyancing.
Paul qualified as a solicitor in 1970.

Sophia Procopi
Sophia is an Associate Solicitor within our firm having joined us
in July 2001. She has practiced exclusively in family law since
she qualified in 2003 after having undertaken her training contract
with our firm. She has gained considerable experience in all aspects
of matrimonial/family proceedings including divorce (property and
financial aspects), children (contact, residence, parental responsibility,
care proceedings) and domestic violenc issues. She also has gained
experience in dealing with neighbour disputes commenced and defended
under s3 Protection and Harassment Act 1997. She regularly advocates
in the County Court in relation to matrimonial matters and has a
special intrest in matters of domestic violence which particularly
impact on the effect of family life, particularly in respect of
children.
